Lampworked
Glass Bead Makers
Alaskan Made Beads of Courage go
to Nome
as Team BOC Beads!
Beads
of Courage and Hot Headed Honeys are working together to organize a BOC
Team
Event.
Team bead
packets
will be carried by mushers on the trail to Nome. Each
2012 packet will include one original
handmade bead along with pewter Husky beads.
Upon return, the handmade beads will be set
aside for a BOC fundraising auction in Anchorage (date TBD). The pewter Husky beads will go to BOC
members.
We are
asking Alaskan bead
makers to make an Alaskan themed bead for the trail and up to 10 copies
of your
handmade bead to be sold on the Beads of Courage website.
The concept was for lampworked glass
beads, but others have shown interest, so PMC artists, polymer clay
artist and
other bead makers – you are asked to participate too!
Not all
mushers participate, so
we are preparing 50 total packets. All beads
submitted will be
accepted. The
beads for the trail will
be the 50 best, most suitable beads for traveling on a dog sled to
Nome. All other beads will be used
for a member in
the BOC program, to be sold from the BOC website or used in other fund
raising
efforts.
Deadline
for submission is Feb
15 so we can get the beads cataloged, photographed and into the
packets
prior
to the mushers banquet.
See details page and
download a submission form. And let us know you’re participating by
Facebook, email, or phone and start making beads!
